People need to STOP trying to make a 1st level blind badass, and accept the truth. In the world of D&D, only 8 creatures in the Monster Manual have Tremorsense. In the history of Avatar and Korra, only 4 people ever demonstrated that ability Toph and her 2 daughters, and Aang. Hell, not even every Earthbender is Toph. And while humanoids can gain Blindsense, it is a 14th level Rogue ability, it does not need to be a 1st level Snowflake ability.īlind people do not automatically gain Tremorsense. But they have not evolved that ability like all the monsters with Blindsight have. If they did, they wouldn't wander around banging a walking cane everywhere. That's how you make a blind character.īlind people do not automatically gain Blindsight. Which means either starting as a Variant Human or waiting until their class permits an ASI and taking the feat instead. They do not receive this for free, they must purchase it as they would any other feat. With that, they gain +5 initiative, cannot be surprised while awake, and no longer give their enemies free Advantage. Offer to allow them to purchase the Alert feat on PHB pg 165. Attacks against them have Advantage, and their attacks have Disadvantage. They cannot see, and automatically fail any checks that require sight. Give them the Blinded condition at all times, as per PHB pg 290. If you want to make a blind character, here is what you do. What you're seeing is a 15th level blind badass who is so skilled that they are no longer hindered by the fact that they are blind. But guess what? None of those blind badasses you've seen has ever been a 1st level blind badass. I am SO sick and tired of seeing this whole Flavor of the Month: Blind Badass keep popping up.
